My Website

It started out as a project for an online course I took. The internet has the ability to connecting people. It is an information highway. Anyone can post anything online, whether it's a fact or fiction gets blurred. With anything powerful, we have the responsibility to do good with it. I am not a writer. I write because I want to share my experiences. We all have our differences, but we all share similar stories. Perspectives. Ernest Hemingway said, "Write hard and clear about what hurts." Aristotle (??) said, "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." I hope what I write entertain a thought to whoever reads, not to change your minds, that is not the intent.

Quote of the moment

"Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering--because you can't take it in all at once"
--Audrey Hepburn

The miracle of the iPhone vidoes automatically making us into digital beings. We all want to be a robots. Lessons from making videos--lighting changes your skin complexion and pixelation helps with our flaws.

Who are your favorite online writers?

Too many to say. Many wonderful writers.

Who inspires you?

It is not one person; it's random strangers. I am quite lucky to be able to meet people who grew up from all over the world. In Metro-Detroit, we have a large population of Middle Easterns, and with everything that happened the past almost two decades, you get to hear their journey to America. Some of them parallel to my parents.

There is this older Italian man who told me the story of how his parents immigrated to Canada with nothing. His mom gave birth to him on a dining table in a room that is no bigger than 12x10 ft. Now he owns restaurants. I told him about my parents, and he said, "You are the American Dream." I told him, "No, you are the American Dream, look at how hard you worked to get these restaurants." He worked at a very young age, for long hours to be able to save for his first restaurant.

There is this older woman I met, who, when I asked about how much history she lived through, she told me stories about how she was the first woman to work in one of the federal agencies. It's mindblowing to know that was 50-60 years ago was the Woman's Movement. So many females during the 1960s-1970s paved the way for us females today. Then she told me about her thirty-year verbally abusive marriage. She now buys books and leaves it in her car to give to random women she meets who are in abusive relationships. Can you imagine her life story?

I think everyone is inspiring if we have the time to listen to them. Meeting humans from Sudan to Bangladesh, and having them share their stories makes me feel honored. It's the highlight of my career thus far. These people we meet, they leave great impressions in our memories, if we open our ears and hearts to them. It opens up your world.

How come your site is so simple?

I designed it in mind with a vertical navigation index page because of what I learned from my Web Design specialization class about accessibility. It had to be a responsive design that looks similar through different devices/screens. I love tech, so I know enough HTML5 to get things done the way I want it.
